CyberWhiz and EMPA Electronics Host CRA Accelerator Workshop in Budapest
CyberWhiz partnered with EMPA Electronics for the Tiremo Accelerator Workshop in Budapest, bringing connected device manufacturers together to discuss IoT cybersecurity, CRA readiness and secure product development.
CyberWhiz was delighted to partner with EMPA Electronics for the Tiremo Accelerator Workshop held in Budapest, bringing together connected device manufacturers, technology leaders and industry professionals to explore the future of IoT cybersecurity, regulatory compliance and secure product development.
The workshop provided a practical platform for discussing the rapidly evolving cybersecurity landscape for connected products, with a particular focus on the European Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) and other emerging regulatory requirements affecting manufacturers across Europe.
Understanding the Future of Connected Product Security
CyberWhiz opened the workshop with a presentation dedicated to the growing importance of IoT cybersecurity and the regulatory challenges facing device manufacturers.

The session covered:
- The rapidly growing importance of IoT cybersecurity
- The impact of European regulations such as RED Delegated Act (RED DA) and the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA)
- Security challenges faced by connected device manufacturers
- The need for end-to-end security across Edge, Mobile and Cloud ecosystems
- CyberWhiz’s approach to enabling continuous regulatory compliance for connected products
During the presentation, our team explained what the Cyber Resilience Act expects from manufacturers and how organizations can prepare for upcoming compliance requirements. We also demonstrated how CyberWhiz supports customers throughout the entire compliance journey, from security assessments and remediation planning to penetration testing, monitoring and regulatory documentation.
As regulatory requirements continue to evolve, manufacturers are increasingly required not only to build secure products but also to demonstrate how security is managed throughout the entire product lifecycle.
Live Demonstration of Embedded Security Monitoring
A key highlight of the workshop was the hands-on demonstration delivered by our Blue Team Manager, showcasing the CyberWhiz Embedded Agent designed specifically for connected and resource-constrained devices.
As soon as a protected device connects to the internet, it becomes visible through the CyberWhiz Defence Center, enabling security teams to monitor deployed devices through a centralized operational dashboard.
Participants were able to observe how connected devices are monitored in real time across distributed environments. Devices operating normally appear as healthy assets within the platform, while suspicious activity immediately triggers alerts generated by our Host Intrusion Detection System (HIDS)-based embedded agent.
The demonstration illustrated how manufacturers can gain continuous visibility into the security posture of deployed products, enabling rapid detection and response to potential threats before they escalate into operational incidents.
Demonstrating Real-World IoT Security Testing
The workshop also featured a session led by our Red Team Manager, focusing on the specialized penetration testing methodologies required for connected products.
Unlike traditional IT penetration testing, IoT security assessments require expertise across multiple technology layers, including hardware, firmware, communication protocols, wireless technologies and cloud-connected services.

Attendees gained insight into how CyberWhiz evaluates:
- Physical communication interfaces
- Device firmware and embedded software
- Wireless and RF communications
- Mobile applications
- Cloud platforms and backend services
- End-to-end attack paths across connected ecosystems
With the Cyber Resilience Act covering products with digital elements, manufacturers must ensure that security is addressed not only within the device itself but across the entire ecosystem supporting the product. CyberWhiz demonstrated how its Red Team conducts comprehensive security assessments across Edge, Mobile and Cloud environments, producing detailed technical reports and actionable remediation guidance.
Supporting Manufacturers Through the CRA Journey
The Cyber Resilience Act represents one of the most significant regulatory changes affecting connected device manufacturers in Europe. Meeting its requirements requires expertise in cybersecurity, product development, vulnerability management, compliance processes and continuous security operations.
At CyberWhiz, we act as a trusted cybersecurity partner throughout this journey. From initial gap assessments and compliance roadmaps to penetration testing, security monitoring, SBOM management, vulnerability disclosure processes and technical documentation, we help manufacturers simplify the path to compliance while improving the security of their products.
We would like to thank EMPA Electronics for their partnership and all participants who joined us in Budapest. Events such as the Tiremo Accelerator Workshop demonstrate the value of bringing together cybersecurity, IoT and industrial technology experts to help manufacturers build secure, resilient and regulation-ready connected products.
